  • Muskie Madness

    A fish of 10,000 casts. Often thought of as one of the toughest freshwater species to catch anywhere in the world. Come let Camp Angler teach you the skill sets needed to catch a fish of a lifetime !

  • Crappie Academy

    With state record crappie present, excellent structure, diverse baitfish, 100’s of cribs and old road beds make Kinkaid an ideal Crappie lake. Black, white, blacknose and hybrid crappie are all present in additional to other panfish.

  • Largemouth Bass Tactics

    Kinkaid Lake is well known for some of the best bass fishing Southern Illinois has to offer. Camp Angler guests will have the opportunity to target largemouth bass with an array of tactics and tournament proven approaches.

Muskie Madness

A premiere Camp Angler session with a focused approach to muskie fishing. Experiential education at its best, as the lead fishing guides provide daily seminars and on the water instruction. Casting and trolling techniques, lure selection, boat control, refined figure 8’s, bucktail making, catch and release management, along with one on one support by the areas top muskie guides in Southern Illinois is provided.

Muskie Madness is not recommended for a first time angler. This Camp Angler session is reserved for the young fisherman who is up for the challenge and eager to learn more about muskie fishing. Overnight tent camping accommodations, fully guided fishing trips, delicious meals and supervised evening activities is just the start to this unique fishing experience on Kinkaid Lake. This is more than a “guide trip”. Muskie Madness takes a true educational approach to being more effective on the water.

Crappie Academy

Three young anglers will share the boat with Scott Donovan. His Ranger 620 boat provides the perfect fishing platform to target Kinkaid crappie. Livescope techniques, trolling crankbait set ups, drop shot rigs, rigging live bait and structure breakdown are just a few of the topics covered. Scott will also provide instruction on advanced boat control, ability to read electronics and selective harvest.

Advanced fishing skills are not required for the Crappie Academy. All rods, reels. tackle and bait is provided for this one day session. Campers can also bring their own gear. Mt Joy boat ramp will serve as the drop off/pick up location. Crappie Academy starts at 7:00 am and concludes at 4:30 pm. Lunch, drinks and snacks are also provided.

Bass Tactics

Bass tactics is designed for young anglers with an array of fishing skills. From advanced anglers to those who are just getting use to casting a bait caster, each camper will find this weekend session to be fun and educational.

The main focus will be refining top water techniques, utilizing chatterbaits, and crankbait management with reference to bait fish migrations off deep creek channels. Other bass techniques will be covered during on the water instruction and seminars back at camp.

Overnight tent camping accommodations, fully guided fishing trips, delicious meals and supervised evening activities is just the start to this unique fishing experience on Kinkaid Lake.
